16 C pays homage to the complex beauty of family dynamics, with the myriads of moments that shape and colour one’s life. It celebrates the joys of growing up in a home where the doors always stood open. The unspoken understanding that no matter where life takes you, this place would always be a refuge.
But also, the bittersweetness of growing up that moulds you into who you become; occasional disputes and hardships are all part of it.
Memory has a way of anchoring itself in light, in scent, in sound. And to me, the house at 16 C was never just a house. It was a pulse, a rhythm, a gathering of lives moving in synchrony. Family time around the dinner table, and pleasant gatherings with a deck of cards.
How the door opened to warmth: the hum of conversation, a record turning softly in the background, the evening sun through the kitchen window casting long shadows across the oak floors before it would dip below the neighbouring rooftop.
16 C is not nostalgia; it’s a return to essence. To warmth, patience, and the quiet certainty of home. It speaks of small rituals that define us. It reminds me that belonging is not found, it’s made, moment by moment, through presence and care. All filtered through a number.
