The stable at Väpnargatan 1 stood behind iron gates and patterned brick — a world apart from the city outside. Within, the air carried a pulse of purpose: hay and molasses blending to the rhythm of hooves on stone. Sunbeams cut through the high windows, catching dust and steam as they rose into the light. Even now, I remember the scent of oiled leather and groomed horses.
It was more than a building; it was a threshold, between power and grace, independence and trust, childhood and the world ahead. From that moment, I knew I had to have horses in my life. That sense of ambition, the feeling of belonging, sparked in me as a young girl stepping through the great doors of the Royal Stables.
As soon as I saw Casper, standing among a dozen bay horses of remarkable stature, I was in heaven. None of the others held him in the same light. Alert but not unnerved, capricious yet calm – that rare duality called to me. Leaning over the stall door, everything else vanished: the hoofbeats, the grooms carrying bridles and saddles, the gleam of polished harnesses. Only him. Only that connection.
Though small, I wasn’t afraid when he approached. The warm exhale from his nostrils brushed through my hair, curious and gentle. I was seen. I felt needed.
Creating this fragrance became a journey back into that world, back to the stables where belonging was built through care and devotion. Each one carried its own story, but like the Royal Stables at Väpnargatan 1, they offered a place where independence grew amidst lovingly polished bridles.
Through the years, whenever life turned uncertain, I returned to the stable, my safe place. A space of mutual trust, where someone depended on me, and I on them. Where time lost its urgency, and presence became everything.
